It happens naturally because it is part of our hard wired psyche. A person must come face to face with themselves before they could ever submit to someone. I believe it to be the necessary mechanism for ultimate freedom, and personal liberation. That's ultimately what it's about. The two people are allowed to play out past lives and dynamics, which in turn allow us to free our psyche in this life of these feelings we can't quite understand in this life. It's why we are pushed so hard in this direction, but often don't know how to articulate it. It will ultimately give the two people an unforgiving power of accomplishment, and ultimately incredible creative energy between them both...

Very little about BDSM is "fair" in the common sense usage of the word. There are no winners nor losers, either. It is not like the Game of Love.
