Yeeeees he's professional artist he deserves all this wealth
David Hockney has done well out of his art.
@spunkycumfun good
Diane is a artist and loves reading about artists. She is currently reading one about David Hockney and loves his work. The book is divided into years and shows a picture the took of himself he took that year. Diane finds the change in the way he shows himself over the years rather interesting. She feels it shows that he is becoming more comfortable in who he is as the years went by.
I think he is right about people not really looking at the world in front of them very well.
David Hockney is one our 'national treasures' here; everyone seems to like him and his work.
@spunkycumfun Well, Diane considers him an artistic treasure.
@justskin1 Diane has very good taste.
@spunkycumfun Yes she does. For further proof, I am sitting in her living room now while she sleeps late.
We are surrounded by nature's beauty if we stop and look around us
Nature is certainly beautiful.
I'll check out his work. I went to the Van Gogh immersive exhibit. It is worth going to one.
I've been to the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam a few times. It's very good and an immersive art exhibition of Van Gogh sounds brilliant.
I've never heard of the gent but I have experienced immersive art. I recommend it.
Immersive art sounds quite an experience.
David Hockney has some great art here, this the first I have ever heard of him. Thank you for sharing his art and story with us.
I hope your Monday is a momentous start to your week..
David Hockney is quite big in America. He spends a lot of time in California.
Hi S!
Thank you for this post! I am an admirer of his work. I think he is one of the greatest painters of recent times, and his unreal, almost dreamlike yet realistic atmospheres have always fascinated me.
What is crazy, though, are the absurd prices paid for some artworks, where the value is entirely subjective. ItΓ’β¬β’s true that a dedicated and creative artist can reach a point where they live very comfortably, I know this firsthand, but the case of Hockney and others feels a bit absurd. I don't think anyone needs to be paid that much money to know their work is appreciated.
It also shows how little money matters to some buyers. If theyΓ’β¬β’re private collectors, it means they have more money than anyone could possibly need, or deserve, which isnΓ’β¬β’t good for the rest of society. If theyΓ’β¬β’re public institutions, then theyΓ’β¬β’re squandering taxpayers' money.
Art should be Γ’β¬ΕsustainableΓ’β¬ too
David Hockney didn't pocket that money; the owner of his artwork did. regardless, it's a ridiculous price for a piece of art no matter how good it is.
@spunkycumfun Yes, is ridiculous to pay for something that subjective as art, something that a simple fungi invasion can turn into rubbish in a short time.
@AuraAviatik6 Fungus apart, it's a shame when a private art collector buys artwork because, unless loaned to a public gallery, viewing of the piece of art is very restricted.
They're interesting, but not something I'd spend $90 million on. In fact, viewing them here is just about perfect for me. Thanks!
David may have two less homes if the fires in Cali keep going like they're going.
I don't know whether David Hockney's homes have survived the raging fires in Los Angeles.
His landscapes are spectacular.
David Hockney does paint a good landscape.
It's good to see David Hockney wearing a pair of Crocs in the first photo. This is all the proof I need to wear my Crocs. Crocs are cool!
Take it from someone who wears hers daily, theyΓ’β¬β’re cool.
@sleek7124 I wonΓ’β¬β’t be taking it that far Γ°ΕΈΛβ
@EnigmaInitiative I'm going to pretend to be an artist when I next wear my Crocs!
@OddsAgainst LOL. I store my pair in a safe!
@flannel_light Crocs are great. They're very versatile - on the beach, in the water or out and about.
@flannel_light I never wear socks with Crocs but then I never wear Crocs in the winter!
@LovingOral1964 Crocs are Wednesday footwear!
