Once dubbed the world's ugliest animal and adopted as the official mascot of the Ugly Animal Preservation Society, the blobfish (see photo above) has just been voted New Zealand's fish of the year.
New Zealand's Mountain to Sea Conservation Trust runs an annual fish-of-the-year competition. In a public vote, and after a concerted radio campaign, the blobfish attracted 1,300 out of more than 5,500 votes cast. Blobfish are found in the coastal waters of Australia.
In your opinion, what animal is the ugliest in the world?
Though I find baboons, slugs, turkeys and vultures ugly, my votes goes to proboscis monkeys (see photo below). However, it was difficult to choose between a proboscis monkey's nose or a baboon's bottom but the proboscis monkey wins by a nose - I can't have baboons winning by a bottom! Proboscis monkeys, found in the rainforests of Borneo, are an endangered species.
The Ugly Animal Preservation Society has designated the 8th of September as the International Ugly Animal Day. Ugly animals are still cool.

I believe of all animals humans can be the ugliest both outside and on the inside.

Aesthetics are subjective, but indeed, those two “creatures” in the photos are ugly, though not repulsive: even the monkey has a somewhat endearing, drunken expression. What really unsettles me are many insects and arachnids, though, of course, it’s not their fault… but that’s another matter.
Beauty and ugliness, as you say, are entirely subjective.

The thing about the blobfish is that they don’t look as ugly when seen in the water compared to when you take them out of the water. 🧐 I think possums are ugly.

That fish is pretty ugly I have to say, I have never given much thought to what is the ugliest animal. There are so many to choose from I think..

I don't find Proboscis Monkeys ugly at all. I suspect that the voters for the monkey may have felt the title would help broadcast their endangered plight. Vultures are ugly and I do not think they are endangered.
And the ugly blobfish isn't endangered. Sometimes it pays to be ugly!
