Never really paid attention to the contest, but agree both your songs are crap. The only comment i noticed on the contest was Gideon Levy's of Haaretz , saying the amount of interest shown at this time in Israel in the contest shows the moral decay of its society.
Eurovision is trashily crap, that's why I like it!
Are they still pissed about brexit?
I think many Europeans are though relations have improved the last year.
Well, I must be one of those rare Europeans who actually likes country music
Not all of it, of course! of course! What IΓ’β¬β’ve never liked is Eurovision, I donΓ’β¬β’t see the point of a song contest by countries. But if some people find it entertaining, thatΓ’β¬β’s fine. The first and last time I watched the Eurovision contest was the year I moved back to Spain, and I was 16! A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then!
I just love the trash of Eurovision. I don't take the contest seriously. It brings people together.
@spunkycumfun Bringing people together is always good
@AuraAviatik6 Very true.
One of my news podcasts talked a bit about Eurovision the other day and claimed that songs with a "folky" element that feature accordians do well in the competition. That surprised me as it is not at all my impression of the kind of music that's performed at Eurovision!
I have to disagree with that podcaster's opinion. Though folk songs are entered, particularly by Eastern European countries, they rarely do well. It's kitsch pop and rock songs that generally do well.
If I can just do a rejoinder (you do make me think). That podcaster was probably correct up to 1974. But when Abba won with Waterloo, that changed everything. Musical artists increasingly saw and still see Eurovision as a way to launch themselves into the wider world.
@spunkycumfun ok. They did claim that several bands this year featured accordions!
@spunkycumfun the podcast was the NYT Headlines podcast - I went back and found the article they were summarizing and it had a more nuanced statement about it. LetΓ’β¬β’s see if this gift link works:
nytimes.com
@smartasswoman Unfortunately the New York Times link didn't work. I didn't see many if any accordions in last night's Eurovision. Now I can't pretend I was watching out for accordions, but I'm pretty sure no song that did well featured an accordion or featured an accordion that was key to the song.
Sorry this happened and your video is a no show. I hope your enjoying a relaxing Sunday..
I posted two video clips, one by Remember Monday and another by Erika Vikman. Which one is a no-show or are both no-shows?
@OldStandardDudeX It's annoying when Americans and Europeans can't view each other's clips because of different regulations. I think you should be able to play this clip.
Hard to argue with Euro-porn trash!
Nothing beats Euro-porn!
One of your videos is unavailable. And hooo boy am I surprised that bottom link made it.
Which video didn't work - Remember Monday's or Erika Vikman's?
I too was surprised that link got through.
@spunkycumfun remember Monday
@EnigmaInitiative Thanks. I'll try and upload a different one tomorrow morning.
@OddsAgainst @EnigmaInitiative
Does this clip work?
@spunkycumfun what he said Γ’Β¬β Γ―ΒΈ
@OddsAgainst Thank you. I'll do my edit tomorrow morning when Americans are still asleep. If I do it now, the post will be in limbo for hours.
@spunkycumfun Or, do it in about three hours Γ°ΕΈβ’Ζ
@EnigmaInitiative I'll be in bed in three hours time!
@OddsAgainst I remember very fondly when things weren't approved here and an edit could be made any time. Now I readily accept there has to be a review process, especially how the law is going, but a review can take a long time here especially if politics is involved.
@OddsAgainst I don't know whether it was before your time, it was when the so-called Dating and Community got split. And conversations were almost real time. But someone fucked up by posting something probably very illegal and the site shut down for a good week while it had an audit of what was posted on the site. Now law and regulation has caught up with the site and other sites, so it's delayed conversation.
