Every year, an annual Masturbate-a-Thon organised by the non-profit organisation, the Center of Sex and Culture, is held in San Francisco. In 2009, Masanobu Sato won the Masturbate-a-Thon after masturbating for nine hours and 58 minutes, breaking his own world record by 25 minutes. The Japanese man, see photo below, is clearly quite a wanker!

The idea behind a Masturbate-a-Thon is for participants to masturbate to raise monies for sex-positive charities. Participants are sponsored for every hour they masturbate.

Other American cities, such as Philadelphia, have held Masturbate-a-Thons. London held the first European Masturbate-a-Thon on 5 August 2006. The Wank-a-Thon, as it was called, was filmed and was planned to be aired on the Channel 4 television channel, as part of its Wank Week, but the plan was shelved. A wank is a colloquial term for an act of male masturbation.

In 2012, China's first masturbation contest took place in Shenzen to mark World AIDS Day. On 4 May 2013, the Canadian city of Montreal held its first Wankfest but its third Wankfest had to be cancelled because of a lack of registered participants.

I get the distinct impression that Masturbate-a-Thons are less common nowadays than in the 1990s and 2000s, presumably because the world has taken an illiberal and a conservative turn since those enlightened decades.

I would never enter a Masturbate-a-Thon - far too public, plus no or little control over any filming, but I would sponsor someone to wank for charity. And I'd be very generous with my sponsorship.

I have masturbated in front of someone and someone has masturbated in front of me. There was quite a lot of mutual masturbation with GIRLFRIEND 14. There was at a few sex parties I attended when one man, and it was always the same man, who liked masturbating over a man and woman having sex. I had no problem him masturbating but I would have had a problem if he spunked over me. He was always ushered away by women before that happened, so the problem was always averted.
